Plot Acquired for CCH's Expansion
The Children Cancer Hospital recently purchased a 4860 sq. yards plot in the heart of the Karachi metropolis at a staggering cost of 64 million PKR. The land is conveniently located very near to our current address in F.B.Area and we hope to initiate construction by the year’s end.
World Cancer Day
The Children Cancer Hospital in keeping with its tradition of imparting as much information and awareness to the general public about childhood cancer, celebrated the World Cancer Day on February 4th, at its premises.
While emphasizing on the need to send forth the message that childhood cancer is indeed curable, Dr. Shamvil, the CEO of CCH, also stressed on the issue “cancer is preventable”.
The risk of developing can be significantly minimized by adopting healthy living such as:
- Stop tobacco use and avoid exposure to second-hand smoke
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Avoid excessive sun exposure
- Indulge in regular physical activity
- Eat healthy and in moderation
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Protect against cancer-causing infections (Hepatitis B or C, Helicobacter pylori and Human Papilloma Virus)
The program was well attended and people from all walks of life also participated in the Q and A session. Children Cancer Day
On the 10 th of February, the CCH played host to its countless patients and their attendants at an informative session with the theme that “Cancer is indeed preventable”.
The aim of such an interaction was very simple; the lives of all these people have been touched by the curse of cancer either directly or indirectly. They have suffered or have witnessed the terrible agony of cancer and its treatment in their loved ones.
Now, is the time for them to spread the message that by life style and behavioral modifications, cancer is preventable!
The simplest of such modifications include regular exercise and maintenance of a healthy weight, cut down on all sorts of addictions (such as alcohol and tobacco), get vaccinated against preventable diseases and avoid excessive exposure to the sun.
Infection Control Week
From 8 th to the 15 th of April, the CCH held interactive sessions daily with the patients and their attendants.
This was done to highlight the importance of personal hygiene and its possible inculcations into our daily lives.
An animated movie by Walt Disney on the topic was also screened which was a great hit with the children.
Various quizzes and competitions were also held amongst the children with prize distribution ceremonies at the end of the day.
